Financial Planning on Divorce Update 2026
We are pleased to invite you to our complimentary seminar Financial Planning on Divorce Update 2026 which this year we are delighted to bring to Norwich on Wednesday 7th October 2026.
Centred around pensions, Clive and Chris very helpfully guided us through common pitfalls with pension sharing implementation, other financial planning to support financial settlements, and tips to assist family lawyers.
An all round interesting start to the day and I am extremely grateful for the time they have taken to share their knowledge. One key takeaway for me - ask your PoDE the right questions so they can help you and your client find the right answers!
In this year’s seminar, we will look at a range of new topical pensions issues that affect family lawyers and provide you with the opportunity to ask any burning questions.
During this seminar, we will be discussing the following topics
- SSAS’s and SIPP’s – the pitfalls for the family lawyer
- Using cash flow modelling to help create two household budgets from one
- Pensions, IHT and the family lawyer
- Relevant Case Law and Pensions Ombudsman Determinations
- Bring out your ‘old’ implementations! A bottle of champagne for anybody who can give us a longer outstanding implementation case than the record to date – it is a tough one to beat, mind!
- Changes in the Normal Minimum Pension Age – what does it mean in practice
- A quick-fire look at issues for the family lawyer to be aware of:
- Who should be doing what and when to implement a pension sharing order?
- How (not!) to calculate a pension credit in the public sector
- Tracing pension benefits
- Clawback of Pensions in Payment
- Claiming higher rate tax relief (up to 60%)
- Voluntary National Insurance Contributions
- More on the day!
This is a great opportunity to keep up to date with pension matters and discuss any issues that you may have with pension experts.
