MKC Professional Services is a dedicated department supporting family lawyers through the various stages of divorce and its resulting financial impact.

Our dedicated team of experts offer family lawyers guidance and expertise throughout all stages of the divorce process and its financial consequences. We support with the following:

Single Joint Expert Reports / Pension on Divorce Expert Reports

  • These are completed on behalf of the Court and detail the options open to parties when separating a pension.
  • Highly technical and detailed, these reports cover all pension types, including personal pensions, Local Authority and Government Schemes.
  • They provide the court with an understanding of how pensions can be separated.
  • Paid for by the individual.

Mortgage Capacity Reports

  • Detailed reports on an individual’s ability to obtain a mortgage, including maximum loan amounts.
  • Paid for by the individual on behalf of the Court.

Consultancy work for Family Lawyers and clients

  • Guidance on how financial products work, considering issues on financial disclosure, cashflow modelling, interpreting technical issues and reports, interpreting the law, financial education.
  • Providing guidance and education to clients, giving them an understanding as to the financial impact of a divorce and clarity of what this will mean for them moving forward.
  • Fee paid on an hourly rate by the client.

Training for Family Lawyers

  • Providing training and guidance to family lawyers on the basics of financial products and how they impact a client going through divorce.
  • Giving Family Lawyers the knowledge to identify potential issues with the solution / answer to contact MKC Professional Services
  • Building long term relationships with Family Lawyers and become strategic partners.

Implementation of the Court order

  • Regulated work undertaken by one of MKC Wealth’s Financial Planners.
  • Supported by the technical team within MKC Professional Services.
  • A joint approach to understand the impacts of the legal requirements, alongside financial planning needs and the requirements of product providers and pension schemes.
  • Paid for by the client.

Clive is an industry expert, one of a handful of SJE / PODE’s and known across the Family Lawyer network for the high quality of his work.

He has specialised in pensions throughout his 40-year career and had his own Pensions and Divorce consultancy before joining MKC Professional Services. He has extensive experience as an adviser in all forms of pensions and was an examiner for the C.I.I.

Clive brings a wealth of understanding to inner workings of the Courts, what Family Lawyers need and, critically, how the law impacts what a financial planning firm needs to undertake. His role includes:

  • Providing our technical knowledge
  • Training the next generation of experts in this area for MKC
  • Working with our Financial Planners, Technical Specialists and Support Teams to ensure that we achieve the right outcome for the client.

Relationship Director for Law Firms

Chris has worked in Financial Services for over 20 years, giving expert advice to clients and leading teams of Financial Planners. Specialising in working with Solicitors and clients, he is focused on providing support and guidance around the financial impact of a Divorce through MKC Professional Services. His role includes:

  • Developing relationships with Family Lawyers and providing training.
  • Undertaking consultancy work for clients and building relationships to allow us to complete the implementation
  • Building a team to enhance our offering

Client Support

Leilah-Grace is an experienced member of the support team with previous time spent in both the financial planning world and the legal sector. Her credentials and role include:

  • Degree in Law, worked as a Paralegal and Crown Court clerk.
  • Provide support across all areas of the department and ensure communication to Family Lawyers and Clients is clear and regular.
